Wed KC was originally launched in Kansas City in 2010 as EA Bride. For years, the company focused on the power of print advertising and quickly became the most beautifully designed wedding magazine in KC. At that time, Britney Jones was the writer and curator of all content, using her real-life experience as a wedding planner to fuel a vision to inspire, yet also inform engaged couples. The magazine caught the eye of couples, wedding professionals, and also a group of investors; and in 2016 EA Bride was acquired by a large media corporation.
Behind new leadership, Britney continued to write and produce the magazine and to the best of her ability, brought a local feel to a large infrastructure publication. She knew immediately that she needed a championing team at her side to get it done. Together, they began envisioning big dreams for EA Bride and the community that it served. The vision came easy, but implementation was problematic, as corporate tape stretched every which way.
Britney realized that if the dreams she had envisioned were to become a reality, EA Bride needed the fluidity to function as a small business. So, in November of 2017, she purchased the company and “brought it home” to KC.
Becoming a locally owned and operated business came as a breath of fresh air, and with it a lot of new and exciting implementations to inspire couples and encourage small business owners. As lovers of everything KC, and previous wedding weekend warriors themselves, the company infused their knowledge and passion into creating the ultimate resource platform, a go-to source for anything Kansas City wedding related, for couples and pros alike. And alongside all of this trailblazing came a new, fresh name, Wed KC.
Under the new name, the company developed innovative projects such as Weddings Unveiled and the Vendor Choice Awards that would become pillars within the industry. Strong roots were planted to not only serve the business of weddings, but to also create community and a quality connection between others in the industry.
Wed KC lives on now in a constant state of movement and innovation, creating new projects and offerings, to ensure that it’s fully equipped to serve local couples and wedding professionals.
